Ireland Clubs: Don't overlook or underestimate these clubs, because they provide you with a ready-made list of flower fans. There are more of them and they are more avid than you may realize. Did you know, for instance, that very many flowers have Fan clubs of amateur and professional gardeners who are devoted to the cultivation and improvement of the strain? Members of these clubs often are collectors of slides of their favorite flowers.
ROBINSON, (Esme Stuart) Lennox, Irish dramatist: b. Douglas, County Cork, ireland clubs, Oct. 4, 1886; d. Dublin, ireland clubs, Oct. 14, 1958. The playwright's life was closely identified with Dublin's Abbey Theatre, of which he was manager 1910-14 and 1919-23 and a director from 1923 until his death. Many of his plays were produced by the theater, in England and the United States as well as in ireland clubs. From 1915 to 1925 he was also organizing librarian for the Carnegie Trust in ireland clubs. He visited the United States frequently, lecturing on Irish literature.
The Ladies' Garden Club formed in Athens, Ga., in 1892, and still active, is believed to be the first to have a constitution and officers. The Garden Club of America, starting with 12 member clubs in 1913, comprised 153 clubs and nearly 10,000 individual members by 1953. The 1920's saw the grouping of garden clubs in many states into federations, which in 1929 combined under the National Council of State Garden Club Federations. Meantime other groups with similar goals were forming.
