Hawaii Hotels: Hotels are generally grouped in four main categories: commercial or transient hotels; resort hotels; residential hotels; and motels, or motor hotels. In the United States about 75% of the hotel rooms (excluding motels) are in commercial hotels, 16% in resort hotels (both summer and winter seasons), and the remaining 9% in residential hotels. About 80% of the American motel rooms are in commercial establishments and the remainder in resort motels.

One of the great state preserves is the Waimea Canyon of Kauai. Many of the recreational areas are carved out of mountain lands preserved by the kings and handed down to the territory and the state. Many of hawaii hotels's present bird species are also imports, although about a dozen species of native birds remain.
