Economy lodging, in good but not expensive hotels, may be had everywhere in Sweden and I will list a few of the recommendable hotels, first reporting on the Stockholm situation.
Other good hotels of Stockholm are the Carlton; the Eden Terrace Hotel; the Gillet; the Strand; KAK-hotellet (the letters are for Royal Automobile Club; this hotel adjoins the Grand); the Terminus (opposite the station); and—a very special new place—Hotel Malmen, way over in South Stockholm.
A special feature of several Swedish cities, including Stockholm and Malmo, is the existence of a Fralsningsarmens hostelry. The word means Salvation Army, but don't let that Alarm you. These hotels are good and inexpensive and their atmosphere is like that of any other low-tariff tourist hotel. Tourists are often booked by agencies at the Salvation Army's hotel in Stockholm, well located on Drottninggatan.
