Florence Hotels: FIESOLE (above florence hotels) needs one or two first-class hotels. But meanwhile, it has a humble hotel, the Aurora, of only third-class rating, that catches the eye for its grand location on the edge of this Florentine hill suburb. It fairly broods over the city of the Medici, lying in its valley far below, and it is only for this reason that I include it in the present list.
florence hotels: The Excelsior-Italie and the Grand, both de luxe and both under Kraft management, a potent name in Italian hotel circles, are on opposite sides of a piazza, beside the Arno. Front windows give on the river, rear upper windows on the wondrous church towers and domes of florence hotels. The Savoy, farther back is another luxury hotel.
Hotels are generally grouped in four main categories: commercial or transient hotels; resort hotels; residential hotels; and motels, or motor hotels. In the United States about 75% of the hotel rooms (excluding motels) are in commercial hotels, 16% in resort hotels (both summer and winter seasons), and the remaining 9% in residential hotels. About 80% of the American motel rooms are in commercial establishments and the remainder in resort motels.
florence hotels: Among first-class hotels are the Baglioni e Palazzo; the Anglo-Americana e Regina; the Majestic; and the Minerva. Among those of second class are the Berchielli; the Cavour; and the Helvetia e Bristol. Among good pensioni are the Lucchesi; the Castri and the Bel Soggiorno.
